Basic Research Skills Seminar

Centre for Genomic Sciences

We are pleased to announce this new series of seminars aimed at equipping researchers who are doing genetics-related research with appropriate skills in statistics, computing, and bioinformatics.

Analysis of Genome-wide Association Studies

Dr Clara Tang

19 Jan 2017 (Thur) 2:00 – 3:00 pm

Seminar Room 2, G/F
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Building for Interdisciplinary Research
5 Sassoon Road, Pokfulam, Hong Kong

Abstract:

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have been highly successful in uncovering genetic variants associated with complex human traits and diseases. In this workshop, we are going to give an overview of the analysis of GWAS, from study design, data processing and management, quality control, imputation to statistical analyses. The intended audience includes students and researchers who are new to the field of genetics and those who are interested in incorporating GWAS in their research.
