Abstract:

Our group has developed assay and analysis tools for studying gene expression and gene regulation using next-generation DNA sequencing.  These assays include RNA-Seq, small RNA analysis, ChIP-Seq, and DNA methylation analysis, and are useful for studying functional genomics on a genome wide scale.  For example RNA-Seq data can be used to study expression levels, alternative splicing, discover fusion gene transcripts, and characterize mutations in coding regions.  This talk will focus on studies we have done with human breast cancer cell lines, which are good model systems of the various forms of breast cancer.
