MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are key regulators of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level exerting their effect through sequence-specific base pairing with their target messages. Post-transcriptional gene regulation has been demonstrated to play an important role in a variety of fundamental cellular processes including cell proliferation, differentiation and death.

Once miRNAs of interest are identified, subsequent studies may be designed to learn which cell processes are regulated by miRNAs. For example, use of synthetic miRNA mimics and inhibitors for gain- and loss-of-function studies and further investigate miRNA targets and effects on protein expression to determine which genes miRNAs control. Life Technologies has now released the second generation of miRNA mimics and inihibitors, mirVana microRNA mimics and inhibitors, which exhibit maximum and consistent effect in vitro at low concentration, non-toxic and can be used in vitro and in vivo, offering you consistency throughout your entire research project.

Kind Reminder: Please take off your lab coat before coming to the seminar.
