Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has allowed the generation of huge amount of genome data, making data validation at times challenging. Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) is well-adopted in many laboratories and is accepted as the gold standard for assessing gene expression level.  With advancement in instrument design and protocol development, qPCR has also emerged as a powerful tool for downstream NGS data validation. In this seminar, three applications will be highlighted:

(1)  Melt-curve genotyping facilitates NGS data validation and complicated mutation studies.

(2) High-resolution melting (HMR) allows fast and accurate assessment of mutation analysis that is potentially applicable for validating NGS data

(3) Universal Probe Library offers a rapid, reliable and powerful tool for validating expression changes in potentially large number of gene targets from RNA-seq.


Our speaker Sunny Wong is the Applications Specialist from Roche Diagnostics Hong Kong. He has been with Roche in application supports of qPCR, nucleic acid purification and targeted sequencing.
